It’s a season of merriment, but
please don’t overdo it. Chess Heights has been busy promoting the game
meanwhile. Last week, we reached an agreement with Ultimate Chess to
organize a monthly chess tournament at their premise. We also sent out a
mail to chess players informing them about the event. In this report, we
show you pictures of those involved in reaching the agreement and the
circular sent to chess players.
The mail circulated is
hereby published verbatim:
To be a
top class player, you have to keep improving your game and that is aided
by playing long time control games often. But our current reality is
that only ‘Friends of chess’ is regularly available and it is a rapid
time control therefore we practically have to depend on the national
championship to benefit from the chess improvement that ‘deep thought’
offers.
To rectify this anomaly, Chess Heights initiated a monthly tournament
that will be held every 1st Saturday and then sought the
support of Ultimate Chess Club. This marriage has led to the Chess
Heights Monthly with the first edition to be on 2nd of
January, 2010.
The
event is currently a hardy experience in pragmatism. Take:
1. The
entry fee is N500 and prize money will be made from this.
2.
Venue is for the moment at 6 , Adeniyi Jakande Close, Off Adeniran
Ogunsanya, Surlere, Lagos.
3.
Games will be under a big tree not in and air conditioned plush room.
4.
Games start unfailingly at 10.00 am.
We
guarantee that the tournament experience will be superb in a short while
but we are determined to make this happen consistently and precisely.
