organizational problems but otherwise successful". Reports we gathered

The july friends of chess rapidplay took place at the Lafiagi community centre on the 7th of july 2007. Notable amongst the participants were Bomo Kigigha and Olanrewaju Ajibola fresh from the Kaduna training camp for the All African Games.A total of 62 players registered for the event with 60 actually playing. UPDATE Sad to say that nigeria drew 2-2 with ethiopia in Round 8 and it was the two people that u would not have wished to be on the Recieving end of the drubbing that got it! Both kolade onabogun and Bunmi Olape lost. For those who are not aware,they were the only 2 naija Chaps With a 100% as it is now they were both on 3/4 as at the end of round 8.story |

The 2007 All African Games Algiers, Algeria, began on the 11th of July and as we all know it's one of the few continental events that has Chess as a medal sport. Until yesterday it was vitually impossible to get any information on the proceedings (our apologies). The finals of the Nigerian International Schools Chess Championship League took place on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Chrisland College, Idimu, Lagos.The concept behind the league is that the intellectual nature of chess is very useful for young children who are still developing. World University Chess Championship is took place in Lagos, Nigeria from 28 August to 4 September 2006. It is organized for the 9th time, the previous edition of the Championship was organized in Istanbul, Turkey in 2002.
