The FIDE World Junior U20 Championship which commenced on the 2nd of September has proceeded into a shocking round two in the Open category as Africa’s only representative who is El Fazari Mohamed Amin from Morocco has lost again on board 27 to Popov Mikhail from Russia being an officer down and under time pressure. However on board one the highest rated junior player in the tournament GM Duda Jan-Kryzysztof from Poland drew his game against India’s IM Gagare Shardul. In the Girls category FM Buksa Nataliya drew with IM Ziaziulkina Natassia on board one. The tournament is therefore so far having very exciting results with young thinkers battling themselves in a strong field however quite disappointing as our only African representative still remains down without a point. With eleven more games to go we hope all the best for the contestant and a grand come back from our African representative. Let us keep our hopes high. Images of the event are below
