Chess Heights Classics I – Round One, Sorungbe Takes the Lead

The first round of CHCI is over and their was one decided game. The second round is underway and the players are going at each other with fury though their first round exhausted them. We the officials and reporters are tired through but we too will furiously deliver an A grade report to you. Who is the marker? Lol.
The first round started 10:00am after much coded pleasantries had been exchanged by all. Bunmi Olape and Femi Balogun arrived last but the event still took off smoothly. This event has been reported in This Day newspapers, Sporting Life, LTV and some radio stations. Punch promised to report it but we don’t have proof.
In the game of the oldies, FM Olamide Ajibowo had a winning attack against IM Bunmi Olape but missed the strongest continuation.
In future vs present, Lapite Rotimi gained opening advantage but could not cope with his nerves and so allowed a drawn position which he further mishandled into a loss. Believe people, he will turn it around and do us proud one day.
Femi Balogun accepted a sacrificed pawn and then won a piece, it is a mystery how Abdulrahman Abdulraheem got a draw in this game.
Ladies and gentlemen, we leave you with games and pictures as we see to round two proceedings.
Abdulraheem Abdulrahman has a penchant for King attack.
